Destination Disease (Acts 1:1-11)

Rene' Lawson, May 13, 2018
Part of the Acts series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

The disciples ask Jesus a strange question before his departure - when “will you restore the kingdom of Israel?” It appears that the disciples are still confused about Jesus’ role. Furthermore, the question seems to imply that they are more concerned about the future than the present. Jesus corrects them by saying “you will receive power . . . and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem . . . and to the ends of the earth.” Jesus challenges his followers to think that fulfillment is not just a future goal, but a present reality. Work, don’t wait.
