Obituary for

Patsy "Pat" Ruth Howard

Patsy Ruth (Dorsey) Howard, age 89, of Rockwall, TX, went to be with her Lord on May 25, 2020. She was born on October 7, 1930, in Tyler, TX to Newton Preston Dorsey and Minnie Barnett (Naul) Dorsey. Pat loved to dance, and was a Majorette at John Tyler High School.

She continued her love of dancing at Tyler Junior College, where she received her Associate's Degree and was on the first line of the Apache Bells. After college, she married her first husband, and from this union, she had two children, Ed and Christi. In 1980, she met the love of her life, H.G. Howard, while square dancing. Pat and H.G. always said it was “love at first sight” and continued their love of square dancing with the Wheel & Deal Square Dancing Club, where they served as President for many years. Pat loved dancing, playing games, traveling, and working in the church.

One of their favorite trips was when she and H. G. took a WWII tour of Germany, where H. G. had served during the war. She loved traveling to Red River, NM, the Texas Valley, going on cruises, and they went to Branson, MO almost yearly. Pat and H.G’s church home was St Philips United Methodist Church of Garland, where she and H.G. were active members for many years.

Pat was a housewife and stay at home mom for her two children, while they were young. Later in life, she worked in the records department for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, where she retired after 18 years of service. She loved her family dearly and was affectionately called “Mamere” by all the grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed family get-togethers for birthdays and holidays and especially loved large Easter celebrations at her house with family and friends. Pat touched many lives throughout her life and her presence will be missed. We will carry her in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her son: Ed Hurst and wife Cindy; daughter: Christi Becker and husband Randy; grandchildren: Jason Hurst, Jamie Hurst, Jaymes Becker and wife Brionna, Cody Becker, and Caleb Becker; and great-grandchildren: Kaylee Winters, Kara Hurst, Isaac Gallegos, and Lucas Gallegos. She was preceded in death by her husband: H.G. Howard, Jr.; brother: Preston Dorsey; and her parents.

A private family service will be held at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall
