Church History

St. Philip's United Methodist Church first opened its doors in September 1955.  The church was then known as Kingsley Road Methodist Church and had 25 new members.  Those few people were all it took for our church to begin growing and expanding

In 1958, a new sanctuary was built to accommodate our growing church.

In 1960, we officially changed our name and became St. Philip's United Methodist Church.

In October 1962, the land where our church is today was purchased.

In May 1970, we broke ground on our new church building.

In October 1970, we celebrated, as our new sanctuary was ready for us to use.  October 25, 1970, was a wonderful day as we came together for the first service to be held in our new sanctuary in our new location.

On May 23, 1993, we again celebrated. We were finally "debt-free" and had a note burning celebration.

Several more buildings and a parsonage later, we have proven to be an ever growing and devoted church family.  We began as 25 members and now number near 650.

As you can see, we have been a part of this community for a long time.  We have been building and expanding our church to make room for you, your family and friends.  The building and expanding will continue into the future, it hold many changes for us as we build, renovate and change the look of our church.  Exciting things are about to happen and you are invited to come and be a part of them.

We believe in the community, the people, and the families around us, and we are ready to welcome each and every person who wants to come into our church looking for a place to worship and to be a part of St. Philip's future.

Come and see what we have to offer.
